  1. Xochimilco— water boats that take you to strange islands and have mariachi band players serenading throughout the ride
  2. Frida Kahlo Museum— this is the home that the famous painter lived in with her also famous painter husband, Diego Rivera
  3. Teotihuacan Pyramids— built more than a thousand years ago, this city is proof the Aztec tribes existence and devotion to their Gods

Affordable places to eat:

  1. Tostadas de Coyoacan —- you can find them in the Coyoacan Market
  2. El Huequito— known for their tacos; started in 1959 and literally means “the little hole in the wall”
  3. Pasteleria Ideal— variety of cookies and pastries offered at this 80+ year old bakery

Day- Adventures:

  1. Stroll through the hip neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa and take pictures of the graffiti walls and colorful homes lining the streets; you can also go café hopping and check out the different bars/clubs
  2. Visit all of the different markets Ex/ Mercado de San juan, La cuidadela, etc.

Hidden cultural gems:

  1. Cafebreria El Pendulo— part bookstore part café (local favorite)
  2. Jardin del Arte— artists display and, if lucky, sell their beautiful work at a park where tourists and lcocals alike frequent
  3. Salon Los Angeles— come here to experience Latin American dance night culture (salsa, mambo, etc.) and learn to groove to the rhythm like a true Mexican dancer
